Late Night With Dee and Noelle
When I was a kid, I was a serious insomniac. Even as a little'un, I almost never slept a whole night through. (I blame my older sister, but that's a different story.) I used to wonder why God didn't want me to sleep very much.
Now I know it's because He knew I'd have children.
With my son, I learned how to sleep sitting up against a wall while rocking in place so he'd get through baby pneumonia.
With the twins, I discovered that I could sleep sitting up, holding two little morsels completely still for hours at a time. I'm pretty sure I learned how to breathe without moving my chest.
And now, I'm a pro at late night posting with a kidlet. You just pretend you're a Late Night TV Host and you can get through anything.
Tonight's special guest is Noellie. She's 24 pounds of cuddly cuteness, dimples and on this night at least, starring lead role in "Splash! Attack of the Stomach Flu".
Let's Interview!
Dee: So Noelle, is this your first starring role?
Noelle: Oh, no. I've done this kind of show several times.
D: So you're a veteran of late night drama?
N: Oh, this is nothing. You should have seen the early months of my career! (laughs) The stories I could tell!
D: Anything juicy?
N: Probably more than you know! (N flashes her signature dimpled grin) I remember this one time my sister and I screamed every time my parents turned off the light, they thought we were afraid of the dark! Ahhhh, Good times.
D: Your sister? Is she starring in tonight's drama as well?
N: Well, no. More of a cameo this time. She's sleeping soundly. I did try to get her a larger role, grabbing that one fish toy that plays music loud enough to make your ears bleed, but Nia slept right through it. I tell her, you'll never make it in this biz if you can't wake up screaming on command, but...well, you know Nia. It's gotta be natural. (N rolls eyes dramatically)
D: As you know, there's been word on the set that you and your sister don't get along...
N: Oh, now that's just crazy.
D: She reportedly stepped on your head while you were sleeping.
N: No, that was an accident. She's apologized.
D: I understand she's also bitten you repeatedly in recent months.
N: (blinking rapidly) Those were just misunderstandings.
D: There've even been reports that she's pushed her way between you and your mother in the night, stealing your milk supply while you slept.
N: I..I...I have no idea where these insidious rumors are coming from! My sister and I are the best of friends! I mean, do we fight? Yes, we do. Of course we do. We're both very passionate about our work. Blow ups are bound to happen from time to time, but we don't take them personally.
D: So you and she are close?
N: (appearing relieved, she smiles again.) Of course.
D: So we should expect you and your sister to reunite in late night drama again soon.
N: Dee, you have my word on it.
D: Well, you heard it here first, gang! The Tenor-ettes have every intention of continuing their brilliant dramatic careers together on our stage!
(Audience applaudes)
D: Any chance you could give us a hint when your next show might be?
N: (laughing heartilly) Now, Dee, you know that's against my contract with the Studio! But I promise, it'll be a jawdropper!
D: (Looking thrilled) Goody.

Cute, Dee
Sounds like you have a little diva on your hands, though. :)

Hi Dee, I hope your little
Hi Dee, I hope your little starlet is feeling better soon! I miss my girls being babies, but don't miss the sleepless nights! Although, I figure I only have another couple of years before my oldest starts dating, and then I'll be up waiting for her to come home, LOL, so I should enjoy this time while I have it!
Wow
That took me right back to the days of projectile vomiting.
Scary!!

ROFL!
Mostly I just feel bad for the baby. She's very hot and very cuddly and her stomach sounds like there's an alien in it.
Since she wouldn't let me write my post earlier, I figured it was fair she took a starring role at 3am. I'll have to show her when she's older. :)
Too funny, Dee! Anyone who
Too funny, Dee! Anyone who can be creative while sleep deprived has what it takes to rule the world.
You're amazing!
Hats off to you and the hubby and kidlets! I hope everyone's feeling well and rested soon... like maybe in the next several years or so ;)
Awe
Great post, Dee! And my goodness - this just underlines the fact that I'm not ready for kids, and am so glad I don't have any :P
Maybe in a few years from now. Or longer. Haha.
Hope your daughter is

Mom-tastic!
Oh, I so understood this interview. Even with an only, I understand.
Poor Noelle - sure hope she
Poor Noelle - sure hope she gets better soon and that Nia doesn't decide it's her turn soon.
No wonder you are a writer you have a vivid imagination even in times of stress.
She's doing somewhat better...
The high fever broke. She's started eating a bite or two and had a few sips of water. She's all huggy with Daddy today. :) By tomorrow I think she might be much better, though her stomach problem hasn't abated. Sigh. But I'm happy she can smile again.
Thanks for the good thoughts!
Dee
