The Resolution Lady is Giving a Prize!
We are one fourth of the way through the year, believe it or not, and I'm popping in to see how those goals and resolutions are coming along. Now for those of you just tuning in, if you post four times this year, you will be in a drawing for a Barnes and Noble tote bag (the canvas kind) stuffed with goodies--one goodie each month. Today, however, to celebrate the twenty-five percent of the year mark, I'm giving away one of my mosaic mini-mirrors. Please read on...
This is open to anyone, no matter how many times you've posted in the past. And if this is your first time, remember, three more posts on a resolution blog and you're in the grand prize drawing January 2.
Here's what I'm giving away today--your choice of the lilac mini mirror

or the pink girly mini mirror

Both mirrors are approximately 8 inches by 8 inches and are made with a technique where satin texture glass is placed over designer paper and then grouted.
(The photos aren't as sharp as I'd like, since I have to take them without a flash. Guess what the flash does in a mirror?)
All you have to do to be in the random drawing for your choice of mirror is to either give me a recap of how you've done with your resolutions so far, or to tell me what your goals are for May.
Personally, I'm making some progress in the basement. I bought shelving. It's in boxes stacked in the basement, so my May goal is to get at least one shelf put together. My other goal is to get the first draft of my contracted book done by May 31 so that I have time to polish in June.
Let's hear those goals.

How pretty!
Those are beautiful, Jeannie -- they are SO pretty. I bet you are a very popular sales booth at the rodeos! You really have a knack for the precision work.
Goals for May... well, we are back to eating better and exercising more now that the warm weather is here (there really is a correlation...when it's the summer like weather, I have next to no craving for junk food, and I'm busy enough in the yard, writing, etc that I barely snack).
But, I would like to clear out a few of the peripheral edges of our yard, and finish another proposal that I started in April, but choked on. I did finish one proposal this month (though it took a gun to my head) and that will be in this week, and so I think that's probably it -- keep eating well, exercising, some yard work, and writing...
I really do need to get back to sewing. I am behind on projects there, which always happens as soon as warm weather kicks in, as well...
Sam
Sam--Enjoy your warm
Sam--Enjoy your warm weather. I love your enthusiasm for it. And definitely keep sewing. You guys should see the tote bag Sam made for me--or maybe you will :)
I'm impressed!
Beautiful jewellery and mirrors?! When do you have time to write?
I feel like I keep saying the same things over and over again. I'm still looking for a new job. Even more of a priority now as Friday is my last day here. Yes, I'm being let go.
I felt so badly about confessing I'd put away the winter skirt without fixing the hem that I dug it back out, did a quick stitch and put it back away.
I took 2 trunksful (trunks full?) of stuff to Goodwill, the library and a retirement home last week. I still have one box full of upholstery material (gorgeous stuff) set aside for my mother and a friend I'm hoping will visit this summer.
The weight thing is up and down. When I'm stressed, I overeat to the point that I won't eat anything then for a day or two. So I'm neither gaining nor losing.
I had stopped going to Curves for a couple of days just because I was too upset to do much of anything but I'm back on track there. And I have been walking. Not every day but a few days.
ani
Ani--Good luck in the job
Ani--Good luck in the job search. I'll be thinking of you. And stressful times are hard times to lose weight. I walked in the door today and started eating almonds by the handfuls. Congratulations for stitching up the skirt hem. You're going to love yourself when you pull it back out again.
Jeannie
May goals
Write the synop and send in the chapters!! I think I said I was going to do this in April and, even though I still have a few days left, I still have to write the synop so that goal flew out the window.
Exercising - some days I do good and some I don't.
Negativity at work - comes and goes.
So I haven't made any headway whatsoever with my goals.
And now I'm getting used to my new glasses - progressive lenses so I have to find the clearest view. Fluorescent lighting is not kind to my new glasses!
Those mirrors are Gorgeous!
Marcie--Reading your post, I
Marcie--Reading your post, I believe you have made headway on your goals. You've just had temporary lapses--emphasis on temporary. Synopses are enough to slow anyone down. I still have to rewrite one to see if I can sell it and I'm not having a lot of fun with it. Good luck on yours! And good luck with the new glasses.
Wow!
Ditto what Ani said! Jeannie, those are gorgeous! I helped put together a mosaic for our kids' school fundraiser, and it's REALLY HARD to do well!
Anyway, did make small progress in the front room, but the piles in the closed-door room are getting taller... Goal for next month--to finish swapping out the kids' outgrown clothes for ones that fit! ;p
wow, I really like those
wow, I really like those mirrors; so pretty. You are talented in many areas.
I have progressed on the paper shredding and sorting end and it feels so good. Dh is getting things done outdoors and getting near to painting the front of the house and putting up a small deck at the front. Yay!!!
congrats everyone on progress.
Fedora--It sounds like
Fedora and Buddy--It sounds like you're both doing great in the organizational/part-with-stuff area of life and that inspires me to try harder! Way to go, ladies!
Resolutions
My resolutions were to work on being healthier through diet and exercise and getting rid of clutter in my house. During the past month I have exercised more and as the temperatures have risen I have been outside working on the yard which seems to be good exercise as well. As for clutter, just this past week I have gone through all my clothes as I have been getting summer clothes out and I have two bags of stuff to donate.
Maureen--I'm impressed.
Maureen--I'm impressed. Keep up the good work!
Hey all--I'm glad you like
Hey all--I'm glad you like the mirrors and it's great hearing your quarterly assessments. I'm at school and the kids are about to thunder into my room, but I will be back. I will also be chosing the winner of the mirror tomorrow morning, so please post by then!
Thanks,
Jeannie
Very Pretty
So far I have not lost a pound but I have started exercising. I am also trying to quit smoking and it tough. I am hanging in there though. They say you can't do both at the same time quit smoking and loose weight, but I am trying.
Good for you! And even
Good for you! And even though you may not lose pounds immediately, the exercisng is helping. Once my husband excercised for six weeks before he lost a pound. He was so discouraged, but then the weight just started coming off. It was like his body had to adjust to the new activity.
Mirrors
Those mirrors are so cute. I'm not doing so well with the resolutions. I have cut back on the junk food, but I've been drinking a glass of soda a day. I gave up soda for a while, but now I'm addicted again. I still haven't put away my winter clothes. I did manage to find some t-shirts and capris because the weather was so nice this past weekend.
Hey Jane--You found your
Hey Jane--You found your capris, so you're one step better than me. I did put my summer clothes away, but now that I'm getting ready to build the shelves in the basement, I have them in a stack of storage bins. Guess who doesn't feel like unstacking and searching yet?
Love the lilac mirror! I
Love the lilac mirror!
I have lost 7 lbs. by eating healthier. I am not eating as much sugar and am eating more veggies and fruit.
If I can stay on track I will have lost the 20 lbs I am hoping to lose by November.
Estella--You're my hero!
Estella--You're my hero! Seven pounds is excellent and doing it by eating fruits and veggies is even better. Good luck reaching your goal.
goals??
Okay so i havent kept up with all of my goals as well as i would like, but life does get in the way.
I have tried eating less and cutting out soda, but have a real problem with pepsi. (I love the stuff) so i'm still working on that.
The new RWA chapter that is forming in my area will have its chapter papers in soon, and were growing slowly. I'm so excited about this,, and know that it will boost my spirit and keep me on track.
Have reached the 52000K mark on my manuscript targeted for blaze, so i'm almost done with the first draft. I'm so excited, and my mother is so hyper for me to finish. (Of course your mother loves what you write! thats a given.)
So i'm doing pretty fair on the goals, just have to work on taking care of me more, thats hard to do some days after taking care of your family.

Jody--You're so wise to
Jody--You're so wise to realize you have to take care of yourself. Congratulations on the Blaze draft! That is quite an accomplishment. As to the Pepsi...yes, I know what you mean. It's easy to become dependent on the stuff.
still in triple digits
when it comes to book buying. Getting some stuff out of freezer. Cooked up a bag of beef bones and make beef broth. cooked up some shepards pie and meatloaf to freeze
those mirrors are beautiful. Perfect for a picture of my new granddaughter only 5 days old
Christa--A new
Christa--A new granddaughter! How lucky you are. I'm jealous. Oh, by the way, is triple digit book buying a problem? ;-)
Updating Resolutions...
Those are beautiful! Did you make them too? I love both, the second one more with the color of that pinkish like!!
I am doing well with a couple of my resolutions. Lots of medical appointments later but struggling with insurance so that's setting me back and frustrating if they don't approve out of the state specialists. So working on that alot.
The reads of reading more new to me authors is wonderful! Its a great feeling trying them finally and now I want to read so many more of them! I haven't done as well with catching up on my series reads.
Caffey
Caffey--As long as you're
Caffey--As long as you're reading, that's the important thing. I'm glad you're doing well with your resolutions and I hope you come out on top with your insurance struggles. That can be so frustrating.
Jeannie
Thanks for the boost of confidence. 'Hearing' someone say I've had a temporary setback makes ME realize it is just that -temporary. thanks.
Oh, it's goals time again!
At least I finally finished that book that was kicking my butt all over the place earlier this year. Turned it in, too :-)
Not much else going on. Normally I'd be gardening like mad but we're moving to the UK this summer so what's the point? I am having lots of fun trail riding now the weather is nice, which was a goal for this year. I like your new cover and I confess I am very curious about why your cowboy's horse is wearing a fancy dressage bridle with a flash noseband!

Lol, Jen
That was the first thing I saw, too. :) I decided that perhaps that's first bridle he grabbed out of the trailer and that his daughter must be taking dressage lessons. That's my story anyway. I'm going to ask to take a peek at the western covers in the future, just to make sure the gear is right.
Where are you moving to in the UK?
Jeannie
We're moving just south of London
DH has a new job there. I grew up in London so it'll be kind of a homecoming for me.
LOL at the daughter's dressage lessons. I figured it was something like that ;-)
