We also live in the land of a million projects, but this summer we swore off of them. The closest we've come was clearing out and remulching the gardens because last year as we redid the kitchen, bathroom, entryway, and got a new garage wall put in, we didn't do a damned thing to the yard and it looked like crap. So now that's all nice, and that's it for the year. We have some plans for other things, but we're hoping to hire other people to do the work, next year! LOL We have some small projects inside, some rooms that need repainting, etc, but that's also for next year.

My personal improvement project has been writing. . .experimenting in new genres, seeing what I can push myself to do. It's meant a lot of failures and false starts, but I'm getting there.

Welcome back! It's always great to see you here! I read your write-up in Romantic Times and thought His Son's Teacher sounded exactly like my kind of read!

My husband is a contractor, and although he's done some fabulous projects over the years, we have many unfinished projects, too. But for me, my goal this summer is to redo my 14-year old's bedroom. The walls are a combination of neon orange and pink (something she loved back when she was eight), and her furniture is an odd assortment of hand-me-downs from family and some, um, interesting yard sale finds. I'd love to get rid of it all, tear out the boxy bed my husband built for her under the eaves, and redo the entire room so that it's chic and inviting, and her own haven.

Hi Kay. His Son's Teacher sounds great. This summer I want to improve my deck. We have a few more railings to add to have our deck finished. We have been working on it on weekends for the last two months.

Hiya Kay! Soooo, I bought your new release at my local bookstore last night and began reading it on my break at my 2nd job ... YOWZA!!! I LOVE IT! The characters seem so very real to me. want to lose weight. Not just talk about it, think about it, but do something about it. I started yesterday with the goal to lose 15 lbs in 3 months. From yesterday to my next birthday is exactly 3 months. 15 lbs should certainly be "do-able".

This summer I...want to work on my relationship with my youngest son. He's almost 17 and will be a junior in HS this year. I'm tired of being the nagging mom. I'd like to have a more rounded relationship with him. I've been taking him driving so that has helped as it gives us a chance to talk.

This summer I...want to clear out some clutter. My workplace, my home, my life, my brain. I'm working on all of those. Now, to be able to afford the gas to get to Goodwill. LOL

Kay, this book sounds really good. I'll hit the bookstore on the way to/from Goodwill to grab it.

This summer our big project is packing and moving. Whew. We've had this house 6 years, which, with one exception, is the longest I've ever been in one location. It is amazing how much we've accumulated!! Our goal is to have everything ready to go before August. We're traveling most of August and hope to be able to come back, load up and head to a new place. We were doing great, but have hit a wall, so to speak. Hopefully, we can get kickstarted again and get this done! :-)

Hi Kay, great post!! This summer I want to improve my messy house!! I've had live ins for 3 years now and when the last of them moves out next month, I'm going on a spree!! I have so much rearranging I need to get done!!

This summer I want to improve the amount of clutter in our house--meaning I'm working on reducing it, not increasing it (which I happen to do quite naturally, unfortunately!)

This summer I want to improve my den. I taught for 35 years and accumulated more stuff than anyone who hasn't taught can imagine. I've been retired for 4 years and haven't even started throwing things out (I just close the door and ignore it). Anyone who hasn't read "His Son's Teacher" needs to run, not walk, to the nearest place to buy it.

So little time, at least in our house. This summer I want to work on the landscaping. Some things are overgrown and some areas are barren so I would like to chop down some things and plant some things.

Kay I am looking so forward to reading His Son's Teacher. As I have said many times everything that I have read by you have been wonderful. Any book that can make you laugh out loud or cry you have a number one book in my shelf and they become keeper. So far all yours are keepers.

As for what needs to be improved after ten years is my kitchen. Yes ten years is how long we have been remodling it. All that is left is some painting and a few more modling put up. Good luck on your projects.

This summer I want to improve my organizing of my kitchen! We have the paint waiting a year now along with the need to organize the cupboards!

This summer I want to finally finish the kitchen remodel. It's been 8 month's people!!!

Thanks for guestblogging. This summer I want to improve my kids rooms. My eldest child just turned 5 and I want to make his room look more like a boy's room so I have been getting rid of the baby stuff and replacing it with boy decorations. My 21 month old daughter is getting her room done princess style as well. Little by little I have been making changes as time and money allow. It has been really fun.

I was on the road yesterday and so am chiming in late. It's so nice to have your here on Cigars!

My home improvement projects...well, since my husband has a summer job, I'm alone--just me and the house, and I'm getting so much done! I'm putting railroad ties around the garden, staking out a fence, painting door frames and a bathroom, putting up picture rails, and hopefully ordering new floors. I get so much more done when I'm alone and bored, lol.

I can't wait until our Wal Mart gets His Son's Teacher. I looked on Wednesday, but nothing yet. I'll check again when I get home!

I can't belive that I am going to say that but I have nothing planned this summer... other than working of course!

This summer I want to improve the state of my library! I plan to enjoy a few books as my TBR list is about 5 feet tall and seems to be falling around!

A project that needs care and attention is lavishing love, kindness and thoughtfulness to my husband whose hardworking attitude to his family has been never ending. No one is more deserving of this reward.

My summer project would be to devote more time to my family. My summers are a welcome freedom from constraints of all types. This allows me to be with them as much as I would like, so I plan outings. Short trips, and I love this special time together since time is fleeting and who knows when we will have the chance.

What I must pay attention to which I regard as a priority is my health. Daily exercise and working on portion control and weight loss. I always maintain my weight but this year which has been rough through me off my routine so I will just get back to my regimen once more.
