Welcome Guest Blogger Kay Stockham, and Special Guest, Beau (Jack) Buchanan!

Kay Stockham's picture

Today we're continuing our hero interviews with Carrie Weaver's Royce and Kay Stockham's Beau (aka Jack) who are gracefully submitting to all of our poking and prodding....

Taking his place, Royce readied to throw. But the dart slipped from his hand and rolled on the floor. He gave Jack a quick glance to see if he’d noticed.

Jack pretended he hadn’t.

“To be honest, I’m kind of relieved Tess is seeing someone. We’ve been divorced since my son, Michael, was a little kid. While I was in and out of the country, Tess worked her butt off to raise a good kid. She deserves to be happy. And it kind of eases my mind. It’s just a little complicated since the guy owns the team where my son is a NASCAR driver. So how about you? Now that you remember, what's next? You ever get married? Got any kids?”

Royce waited for Jack to answer, finally prodding, "Come on, man, give it up. Kay and Carrie aren’t gonna let us off the hook till we’ve spilled our guts."

Jack shook his head, his expression that of an old dog who'd lost his juicy bone. "Haven't thought about marriage until recently. Too late now, though. The only girl I-- Marley hates me because she thinks the past couple months has been some kind of a sick joke. Me and Beau switching places, you know? Beau was my buddy, but he wasn't always a stand-up guy. He didn't man up when he got her pregnant and treated her like dirt. Then I show up and think I'm him. Took forever to get her to talk to me without hating me. Now the truth is out and she thinks I'm a sick freak. If you look at it from her point of view, she's right."

"Tough break. You just going to give up?"

"I'm not the man Marley thought she was with. She's picked Beau twice now, not me."

Royce sighted up and began again. "That's no answer."

"No...but it is the truth."

ChristmasCover.jpg Royce paused long enough to shoot Jack an incredulous stare: "So that's it? Hey, you can’t just give up like that. I mean, I’ve met someone kinda special. And talk about worrying that a woman is going to think I’m a freak...." He raised his left arm, where there should have been a hand, but wasn’t. "Katy doesn’t seem to mind about my injury. So maybe you should man-up to the situation and go after what you want. She's a nice woman, right?"

"She's the best. Maybe once the dust has settled, I will. I've got to get my head together first." Jack flashed him a triumphant smirk. "And right now I'm gonna kick your butt and win that drink you promised me. Think Carrie and Kay will get off our backs now?"

"Not until we tell everyone to pick up copies of Temporary Nanny and A Christmas To Remember, and to check out the excerpts about us on their web sites. You know how women are, especially those women. Like it's not enough that they plaster us on the cover for everyone to ogle."

The men exchanged a long-suffering glance and turned toward the readers.

"Go to Kay's website."

"And Carrie's, too."

"We done now?"

"Yep, we’re done. Looks like the authors are speechless for once. Unless these gals gave more questions. . . . I guess we have to hang all day. More darts?"

"Oh, man. . . maybe another beer."

"Yeah."

Note from the authors: Thanks to Sam and all the ladies here at Cigars for having us here! We've loved chatting with you.

Jack blasts Royce's Most Sensitive Man Comment

Hey, ladies. Welcome back. I know it's not nice to point fingers, but Royce? Most sensitive? He's a nice guy and all, Carrie, too, but come on. Show me a little love here. I lost my memory. Do you know what it's like to wake up and not remember your own name? Talk about freaked out. The docs insisted I had to remember on my own, too. They prodded me here and there, but the headaches would come and then the session would end.

Anyway, I just had to step in and defend myself here. As as for who's the better lover, well, I didn't hear Marley complaining when she was up against the door. Wait, that was probably too much information. Pretend I didn't just tell you that, okay? It's not nice to kiss and tell, and I'm a nice guy. I'm just a bit messed up in the head at the moment finding out that I'm Jack when I've lived the last few months as someone else. So, give a guy a break okay and help me figure out how I'm going to get Marley to forgive me.

Jack

Too sensitive?

Hey, someone seems a bit uh... overly sensitive about how one's perceived. Just saying... :)

Too Sensitive?

LOL Fedora! Yes, Jack is a wee bit too sensitive at the moment. *sigh* Poor guy. We'll have to pardon him that, eh? He's got a lot on his mind about how to win Marley back. And then there's whether or not to tell his family that he's alive. He and his father and brother have quite a history there.

Thanks for stopping by! Hopefully Jack will be pop back in later and not be so moody! ;)

Moody?

Kay, you, too?

Jack

Hey, man, authors create us

Hey, man, authors create us and then they think they own us. I'm here for ya, buddy. In a very beer-drinking, dart-throwing, manly kind of way. ;-)

Royce

Looking forward to both stories

Thanks for giving us a peek at your characters . . . it was interesting and funny. Thanks for making the guys spill their secrets. Can't wait to read both stories.

Welcome Cheryl!

Welcome, Cheryl! I'm so glad you enjoyed the blog. Carrie and I had a lot of fun with it. Carrie will be here later, too, to answer any more questions about Royce. Maybe we can even get him to drop in so he and Jack can talk some more. Royce understands Jack pretty well.

Jack

Jack's a good guy. That's why I give him a hard time. If I didn't like him, I wouldn't be here. Ya know what I mean? But Carrie's got me on a short leash until she has some caffeine....

Welcome, Cheryl. I'm glad you're enjoying our agony, er, touchy-feely conversation.

Royce

Short leashes

Royce, thank God. I need some help here in evening the odds. A man spills a little too much and I'm labeled moody.

Ah, crap, here comes Kay. Talk about short leashes. Where's the caffeine?

(Jack pastes on a smile.)

Hey, sweetheart, what's up? Ah, you've got your Mt. Dew. That's good. Wanna join us?

Jack

Jack and Royce

Oh yeah, there's nothing better than watching (or reading) a couple of guys forced to talk about their emotions and feelings. Yes, I'm evil in that I like to watch men squirm a little.

ME TOO

Ditto what she said. Make them squirm alittle;)

So, can I just have that man wrapped in a big red bow under my tree? That isn't asking for too much, is it? lol I won't even make him talk:0

Jibby's Christmas Present

LOL Jibby, you might have to fight with Marley for Jack. Even though things are pretty tense right now, there's a lot of emotion behind the scenes. ;)

Awww...

Jack and Royce, you know we kid because we love, right? ;)

We love to hear you open up :)

I will be glad when your

I will be glad when your book A Christmas To Remember is on the store shelf in my area.

Enjoyed the peek into your

Enjoyed the peek into your characters.

How fun

What a great look at your characters! Thanks so much for sharing :-)

And The Winner Is....

The winner of yesterday's blog entry raffle is...Ani! Congratulations, Ani! If you'll send your snail mail information to me at carrieauthor@aol.com, I'll send out your autographed copy of A Chance Worth Taking.

And yes, I've now had my caffeine and my brain cells are starting to respond. ;-)

Carrie

Oh, and just a reminder, you have to be a registered member of Cigars to be eligible to win.

For Jack... and one for Royce, too...

I tortured Royce a little yesterday, so I think I need to pin Jack, uh, against the wall a little here (figuratively speaking -- you guys do know you're surrounded by Blaze readers/authors? Do you know how dangerous that can be???) ;)

Anyway... What's your favorite thing about Marley -- what makes her different than any other woman you've known?

Also, there was some talk of kids...a question that Royce asked that never got answered...fess up.

Oh, and okay, while I'm at it, this is for both of you (Royce and Jack): what's your favorite scene in your respective books, and why?

Sam

Sam's questions

LOL Bring it on, Sam. ;)

As to Marley... She's one of those people you want to be with, you know? She's funny and smart, but so down to earth. She's not afraid to get dirty digging in the dirt for her landscaping business. But most of all, she's someone I'll never get tired of being with. Whether we're arguing or getting along, she's one of those people that I know I can trust, whether it's with my best friend or my family or whatever. Call me jaded, but that's hot in my book.

Ah, favorite scene. I'm claiming two--did I mention the door? (he asks with a sexy grin) And when I finally came face to face with my old man. Wasn't easy. But those are my favorite.

Jack

OK first things first there

OK first things first there are two of us named Ellen here - one is a brilliant writer and the other is a satisfied reader. I'm going to go by Ellen Too cause I'm the reader.

Now that settled----Jack being able to trust is one of the most important things a person can say about someone they love.

Ellen Too

Welcome Ellen too!

So glad you stopped by Ellen!

Ellen Too

Great to "see" you here Ellen Too.
Royce

Kids

Sam, I'm having a ball doing all the stuff with Jake Garner that I missed out on with Michael. I'd welcome a baby if it happened...Guess that's something I better talk to Katy about....

Royce (handing off to Carrie)

Carrie here. My favorite scene was when Katy and Royce decorated Jake's birthday cake. Buttercream frosting...yum! Probably the second is the epilogue scene --it was so satisfying to show how Royce had grown and what a wonderful life he'd made with Katy. Oops, hope that wasn't a spoiler.

You know, what, Carrie

You just reminded me of when we were talking a ways back about both having frosting scenes in our books! I have one in Talking in Your Sleep, too, though it's Christmas cookies... ;)

I don't think it's a spoiler -- one of the nice things about our books is you always know it's going to work out just fine... ;)

Sam

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing us a peek at your characters. I am definitely wanting to read their stories now.

Really enjoyed the

Really enjoyed the excerpts!! Thanks.

Thanx

Thanx for sharing with us those excerpts :)

Thanx

A christmas to remember looks great :)

Jack

Hey, Jack, what is it with you and doors? So what do you think it will take to win over Marley? Even I can tell you've got it bad for this woman.

Royce

Royce

Hey, buddy, glad you're back.

What will it take to win over Marley? Dunno, man, but I've got to figure it out and fast. I do have it bad for her. Too bad I screwed it all up.

Jack

I think in order to win over

I think in order to win over Marley you are going to have to do a whole lot of groveling. And you are going to have to prove to her you have really changed.

Ellen Too

Grovelling

Ahh, Ellen Too, but that's the thing. I'm not Beau. Beau hurt her, but all I want to do is love her. The thing is, how will she ever look at me and not think of him?

Jack

That's a tough problem...

Turn out the lights, maybe?

;) Sorry... Couldn't resist...

I think even when people strongly resemble each other, there are unique things that make them "them" -- I'm dying to get this book and find out how you guys work this out! Unfortunately, the Supers in my store seem to come out mid-month -- last month's are still there, so I guess I'm going to have to be patient...

Sam

Supers

Hi Sam!

My local Wal-Mart has the Supers on the shelves now--and ACTR is slowly disappearing. Not bad for two days. ;) I'm so excited! Reviews are rolling in and so far all have been awesome. I'm doing a happy dance. :)When so many people ask for a story, you never know what their reaction might be. Here's hoping it matches the reviews! ;)

Grovelling

Jack, buddy, you need to SHOW Marley you're different. When she looks at you, you need to open up and allow her to see into your heart. That will erase all the stuff that came before. Or at least that's what Carrie tells me. I hate to admit it, but sometimes she's right.
Royce

Royce

Yeah, that's what Kay tells me, too. Guess we'll see if I did it right in the story, eh? ;)

Jack

Yes she will eventually look

Yes she will eventually look at you and see you but you are going to have to prove to her that you are not Beau. Intellectually she knows this but were you honest with her that you were Jack and not Beau or did you let her think you were Beau even after you knew differnt???

Ellen Too

Got it!

Yes...uummm frosting favorite Royce scene! And it helps when a good-looking man can sweeten us up with treats!

Got it!!! I checked at Wally World and found ACTR!! Looking forward to reading the door scene Jack.

Thank you for the visuals...
Chelle

Chelle

Chelle, sweetie, have a blast with it. Especially since Mr. Chelle is home. ;) Give my brother in arms a homecoming he won't ever forget, okay? ;)

Jack

Ellen Too

See, that's the thing. She's the one who figured out I wasn't Beau. Floored me. Lousy timing, too, because-- Ahhh, better not go there. TMI, you get me? Anyway, she told me and now she thinks it was all a sick joke which is why it's so important to do this right. I have to get her to see that I didn't mean to hurt her.

Jack

"What's new pussycat.."

Hi Kay,
How nice to finally be able to tell you how much I enjoy your books. I love the Superromances and often read them for comfort. They have seen me through some rough times. I love Christmas theme books too so I'll definitely pick up A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER. I'm reading a Super now as I just had to have my 20 year old cat put to sleep. :-(

MelissaK

MelissaK

Hey MelissaK, thanks for stopping by. Kay had to go run some errands and asked me to check in. She'll be back in a bit.

Jack

And the winner is...

Cheryl S!

Cheryl, please email me at kay@kaystockham.com and I'll get the book to you.

And to everyone here: thanks! It's been a lot of fun.

Sam, thanks for the invitation! :)

Royce, sweetie, I'll see you around.

Carrie, great blogging with you!

And, Jack... Honey, you're coming home with me. ;)

Congratulations, Cheryl

Hey, Kay, it's been fun blogging with you, too (although all we did was hold the leashes). LOL. Royce told me to tell everyone he enjoyed the company and conversation. Truth be told, I think the guy has a hard time saying goodbye.

Carrie

Woo Hoo!!

Congratulations, Cheryl!

I'm sorry I wasn't around on Friday to tease Jack. Sounds like I missed out on some fun!
