cat7.jpgHalf-way through a Ph.D. program, I realized I didn’t want to make a career out of teaching undergraduates about the regulatory history of telecommunication satellites and the politics of outer space. I wanted to be where the action was—and write about it. And for more than a decade, that’s what I did as a senior technical writer and editor for an aerospace and defense contractor. In my spare time (Did I really just write that? As if.), I started writing romantic comedies and then eased into writing eco-techno-thrillers with my co-author, meteorologist Bill Evans. I know, I know, the logic in that heavenly-romance-to-earthly-destruction path isn’t obvious, but it’s there.

The paperback edition of our first collaboration, Category 7 , an eco-thriller about a manmade hurricane aimed straight at New York City, made its debut on The New York Times bestseller list last week at number 21. See the video trailer here http://us.macmillan.com/category7 Our second book, Frozen Fire, will be released in hardcover in June 2009.
